"Lonely Soldier" Is a very large lifted globe, created out of a large Cherry burl, Todd purchased the burl sat it in a corner of his shop, and due to a long series of surgeries it sat there in the dark for a long time. As wood does it cracked and started to get punky.
Todd decided he was going to turn it into a great piece anyway, so with the challanges of turning a large pre-dry, pre-cracked lifted globe piece, he went at it.
Fighting the punkiness of pre-rot call the way. It started to offer up an amazing array of colors and details, spalt lines, bark inclusions, and cracks with weathered edges. He knew he'd made the right decision, it shows all the coolest of details a large old weathered cherry burl can offer.
Finished with many, many coats of gloss polyurathane finish, this along with it size, 14.5"w x 13.5"h it's really an eye catcher.
He's happy to provide additional pictures if needed so you can get a good look at the other side. It's simply a stunning piece with so much to offer the eye.
As with all of his work it comes signed, named and numbered with a certificate of authenticity.
